“I’m not a runner.” That’s what I’ve been telling myself for years. It’s also what I tell others when they used to invite me to join them in races. Maybe it was because I never enjoyed running as a sport or even for therapy. Not my cup of tea, so therefore, I must “not be a runner”. Some time ago, the realization occurred to me that I put my own self in this box and labeled it “Doesn’t try new things unless she knows she’s going to be great at it.” 🤦🏼‍♀️ Well folks, it’s time to burn that box. Life isn’t slowing down for me, so I better pick up the pace. The day after I turned 36, I ran my first 5k in memory of my dad. About two months of preparing helped me achieve my goal...”RUN THE WHOLE THING, and DON’T EVER STOP TO WALK.” With the help of a good friend and expert runner @lscharfflina by my side helping me keep a good pace, I finished the race I set out to run. (She even slowed down to let me be one step ahead🏃🏼‍♀️Thank you Lina!) As we turned the last corner, she said, “Go as hard as you can and sprint, I’ll follow you.” Was it pretty? No. Did I give it my all? Yes. I was so proud of myself because I broke a negative label that I put on my own dang self, and that’s only the beginning. I’m at the starting line of many races ahead, and probably a lot of hurdles too. It won’t be easy, feel good, or even look pretty doing it. Finding more people like Lina who are better than me and more qualified in the field will be crucial to my growth. But I’m ready to run the race set before me, because I know that “I am a runner.”
This is how my team and I feel about tomorrow’s new product launch with @rodanandfields. SOMETHING NEW IS COMING!!! Stay tuned! #lifechangingskincare #thisviewcouldbeyou
To be under the mentorship of @emilyloftiss has been one of God’s immense ways he’s blessed me in 2018. Now, I pray I can offer the same goodness to my own team. The women who choose to say YES and trust the journey with me are genuine 🌸STEEL MAGNOLIAS🌸. Sweet, kind, and delicate on the outside...but can can endure anything up ahead because their cores are made of steel. #thisviewcouldbeyou
