Today’s unexpected snow flurries had me running to grab my camera for my 365 project. In order to actually see the snow, I needed to make sure the lens was focused on the tiny white specks and not the background. The focus needed to be set to manual instead of auto. Auto mode will focus on whatever is the biggest and easiest subject to find. I didn’t want to see the trees that are always there. I wanted to see the different, the unexpected, the unique, and the beautiful.
Change the focus by controlling the focus. When we run our lives on auto mode, we focus on the biggest and easiest things to see. Our schedules, our problems, our complaints, ourselves.
If we want a different life, we need a different perspective. Our focus has to shift to the things unseen while in auto mode. We can manually maneuver what our eyes, minds, and hearts pay attention to. When we fix our eyes on the here, the now, the negative, the problems, the worry, the stress, the easy to see things of life…we coast on auto mode and miss the blessings that are right in front of our own eyes.We must make a conscious decision to be intentional with our choices. How we spend our days is ultimately how we spend our souls. What in your life needs to switch from auto to manual mode. Where do you need to focus your attention in being intentional so you don’t miss the amazing gift God has for you?Colossians 3:1-2 “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. “
